New Profile Pic!

Taking and posting a new profile picture of myself has been on the back burner of my mind for a while. I had the same profile picture for over a year. And if you know me at all you know that in a year my hair can change in length and color numerous times.

This was the first picture I took. Which I really liked until I realized that there is a stack of pin-up boy pillows behind me. And while I am not shy about making pin-up boy products there is a time and place. And I decided my profile picture it not the time or the place.

I got my hair done today (thanks Beth!!) and realized that the previous cut I had was making me feel frumpy. That and the fact that I was dressing like a homeless person. So in an effort to further banish the frump I put on a dress and some make up. My hair IRL (in real life) is actually purple. Like for reals purple but does not photograph well for some reason. However I felt cute after all this de-frumping so I figured a new pic was in order.

This one will have to do for now. Maybe the next "cute day" I have I will try another one. But I am seriously feeling a closet clean out and some new clothes shopping and making coming on! I guess it is about that time of year.

Now I am off to put dinner in the crockpot and run a Girl Scout troop meeting. This dress is close to Girl Scout green, right?

Peace Out - C

Don't you hate when you screw up?!?!

I screw things up a lot. My sweet husband would say "why are you focusing on the bad you do lots of things right!" And in many ways he is right but when you do something right you check it off your to do list and move on. It does not haunt you and follow you and make you feel drab.

Ok so today's mess up was not that bad. When I got my Etsy store back up and running the other day, apparently I was a little over zealous in re-listing things and I listed some napkins that I do not in fact have. (well I didn't until a few minutes ago) How do I now know this b/c of course those are the napkins that someone bought from me.

I was all excited Wednesday night when this order came in. But did not have time to go look for the napkins and package them up until this morning. Which is when I discovered I do not have these in stock. So I had two choices.
1. I could tell the person who had bought them about my mistake and refund their money.
2. I could wash all 10 yards of this fabric and cut and sew napkins.

Me being me I could not just wash and cut enough to fill the order I had to wash and cut an entire bolt of fabric. Which I did. It only took me an hour and then guess what. I got to cross "ship etsy order" OFF of my to do list. Ok well it is an electronic list so it was a click but you get the drift.

Additionally today I have clicked off (really not as satisfying a way to say it)
- finalize details for M's new dance class
- read and respond to emails
Not so impressive when you see how many items have a big empty open check box sitting next to them. But at least next week when I go to cut and sew napkins I will have a bit of a head start.
And I did not have to disappoint a new customer. So all in all not a terrible day so far.

Off to click off more items as DONE!

Peace Out - C

p.s. I may even put "write blog post" on the list just so I can check it off.

Studio Clean Out! And Sale at HomeGrown Decatur

This morning I decided I was going to give myself a "day off". Which of course is why I am writing this. Why is it when you finally give yourself permission to rest (partly b/c you feel like crap) you manage to rally and feel like doing some work.

Ok so my phone does not take as good a pictures as my real camera is the lesson here. But I want you to focus on the fact there is floor space to be seen here. And that there is also clean table space.

Things are put away so that the closet curtains can be closed and not look like the closet is barfing up the stuff in it.

It is amazing that when everything is put away where it goes it really does seem like I have a decent amount of work space.

We even managed to tame the mess that was taking over M's studio space.

Getting all my mess down to this pile of cut stuff that is ready to sew is pretty manageable.

Well ok there is this pile too but all in all pretty manageable. And having a neat organized space has improved my attitude and ability to focus. Last week I accomplished my main goals, which were to finish sewing snack bags and to get my Etsy shop back up and running. I actually accomplished these goals. The goals for this week I think will be smaller. Resting is high on the list. I have been having a battle with vertigo and the vertigo is winning today.

But I accomplished my goal for yesterday which was to get my sale items over to HomeGrown Decatur for the big studio sale this week.

Starting Thursday! There will be lots of cool stuff on sale. I know all the stuff I brought over I marked 60% off. There were lots of class samples and one of a kinds as well as fabric and scraps from me. Other artists are selling discontinued items, off season stuff and all sorts of interesting gems as well.

I will be working Thursday 10 - 2 and 5-9 so come by and see me!!

Peace Out - C
